About us
Vatra is the Carpathian hearth-fire
High in the Carpathians, shepherds kept a vatra, a living fire, burning all season. When they moved the flock, they carried an ember from it, so the next fire was always lit from the same source. Letting it go out meant losing the season’s warmth and its gathering point, so it was never allowed to die.
That is the fund. We keep Ukraine’s fire lit, and carry the ember forward, to the next round and the next founder.
Vatra Group is a Ukrainian-led venture fund, run by operators who have built companies themselves, and who understand what it takes to build one in Ukraine.
